Multi-talented, singer & Project Runway Junior designer Ruby McAloon's first sewing machine was given to her at age 7, and less than 5 years later, she was already enrolled in the Teen Fashion Design Program at the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
By 2016, she'd already had the opportunity to sing to over 2,000 people together with Pat Monahan of Train & Rachel Platten, as well as be the youngest designer to (ever) show a collection, –In Denim–, at Boston Fashion Week that same year — all by the age of 14.
Following the success of –In Denim– and the subsequent premiere of PRJr in December — 2017 has, so far, proven to be another year of opportunity for the budding star, showcasing her work for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's "Runway For A Cure" and debuting her second full collection, –Doyenne–, at New York Fashion Week in just the first few months of her freshman year of high school.
While juggling school and learning what it takes to start her own creative career, Ruby was invited by Roger Williams University to lecture their Fashion Marketing students on her experiences and insight — an honor to have her opinion already valued this early in her life & career.
After completing her rst year of high school, Ruby spent her summer immersed in both music & fashion. Writing songs & performing with her father, a touring musician, in addition to having multiple opportunities to work with Seventeen Magazine developing fashion related online content for their various social media platforms.
As summer came to a close and Ruby began her sophomore year of high school, she was recognized by Boston Fashion Week as one of "The 17" — the 17 new faces that should be on every fashionable Bostonian’s radar for 2017. She'll be featured in a documentary short on opening night of BFW on October 1, and will spend the night with industry peers, fans, & friends alongside her models wearing selections of her work.
Keep an eye on this talented and inspired artist. Ruby will be on everyone's radar far beyond 2017.
